Juanita ~ Dance Director/ Instructor

Juanita Velasquez, Owner and Dance Director of Xtreme DANZ started dancing at age 4.  She enrolled at Pat Alston's School of Dance in 1989 where she took ballet, tap and jazz.  In 1992 she danced for the award winning Rangerettes at BF Terry High School in Rosenberg, TX.  At a drill team competition, which took place at "The Summit" where the NBA's Houston Rockets played basketball, she decided she wanted to audition for the Rockets Power Dancers.  After graduating high school, Juanita auditioned for the AFL's Texas Terror in 1997 and made the team.  She danced with the "Texas Terror" for one season and then went on to audition for the Houston Rockets Power Dancers.  Juanita was a Rockets Power Dancer from 1997-2001.  She was under the direction of Marilu Amador-Harman, who was the NBA's Houston Rockets Power Dancer Director and is now the MLS Houston Dynamo Dance Team Director.  Dancing for the Houston Rockets Power Dance Team opened many doors for Juanita.  She was featured in music videos for Rap Groups such as Lifstyle and South Park Mexicans and on the other end she choroegraphed musicals; one of them being Annie.  After making her dreams come true of dancing with the NBA's Houston Rockets Dance Team she went on to teach ballet, tap, jazz and hip-hop at Kinard Dance School in Sugarland, TX and then at Cheergym's Texas Thunder in the Rosenberg/Richmond area, where she formed the "Starz of Thunder" all-star dance teams.  There she formed one all-star competitive dance team but after winning the 2006 ASC Junior Hip-Hop National Title, United Cheer's Junior Hip-Hop National Title and United Cheer's All-American Dance Team, they grew to become 4 competing teams.  Since then, Juanita has studied under various professional choreographers who are at the top of the dance industry.  She has attended dance conventions in New York where she became a Certified Dance Instructor with the NYC Broadway Dance Center and studied under famous choreographers such as Wade Robson; Music Creative Director & Choreographer, Brian Friedman; "MTV's So you Think You Can Dance" (judge) Mia Michaels; "MTV's SO You Think You Can Dance (choreographer)" Dave Scott; "MTV's America's Best Dance Crew" (judge) Shane Sparks; Chris Judd, Luam, and many more.
